Crying Quotes: Let your tears come. Let them water your soul. ~ Eileen Mayhew
Do you ever have days where you feel like crying? I do. I don’t know about you, but sometimes it seems as if I have the weight of problems and responsibilities on my hands. Each day is busy and the demands of life can keep you hopping….leading to anxiety, stress, and tension.
Many times a good cry is begging to be let out. However, we hold back the tears; curb our desire to weep; or fight the need for a big old sob session. Maybe it’s held back for fear of falling apart; or appearing weak; or for some other reason.
However, I now want you to rethink the value of a good cry. There are times when you simply need it. Do you know that there are speculated benefits to crying? Below I list the five top reasons you need a good cry:
- You let out bottled up emotions and feel a little relief.
- Crying helps you transition from feeling upset to feeling better.
- A good cry helps you heal from grief or pain or whatever troubles you.
- Weeping helps relieve stress, tension, and anxiety.
- Crying is said to rid your body of toxins.
…you know that a good, long session of weeping can often make you feel better, even if your circumstances have not changed one bit. ~ Lemony Snicket (crying quotes)
At times, I think crying is thought of as a negative, when it fact I believe it to be a positive. I read somewhere that Human Beings are the only species that shed tears. Whether true or not….you were given this function for a reason. Use it. I love the following inspirational sayings about tears:
- Tears are God’s gift to us. Our holy water. They heal us as they flow. ~ Rita Schiano (tears quotes)
- Heaven knows we need never be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlying our hard hearts. ~ Charles Dickens (crying quotes)
- Tears are the safety valve of the heart when too much pressure is laid on it. ~ Albert Smith (quotes about tears)
I believe you should use every ability and talent you have to help you life your best life and the ability to cry is a powerful weapon. Okay, so you can’t get the tears to flow; or you feel so overwhelmed and tired that you can’t put forth the effort to cry. Here is why you do…..grab a sad movie, read a moving poem, peel an onion.
Do whatever you need to do, but don’t bypass the benefit of a few minutes of relief. You deserve it. If none of these things work, then use one of my favorite tricks. I call it a “two for one.” Find something so funny that you can’t help but laugh until you cry. This way, you take advantage of both laughter and weeping.
- Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward. ~ Kurt Vonnegut (laughter and tears quotes)
- Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion. ~ Steel Magnolias (laughter quotes)
So…. the next time you feel as if you want to cry…go ahead and shed some tears; weep til you heart’s content. Go ahead….get it out, feel better, then move on. Then, when you need it again….take out this
special weapon and use it. Let crying help you make it through. With that…..I leave you to think about the following inspirational sayings:

- If you will call your troubles experiences, and remember that everyexperience develops some latent force within you, you will grow vigorous and happy, however adverse your circumstances may seem to be. ~ James Russell Miller
- People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
